Hamilton Forth is delighted to be partnering with award winning wholesalers, J.W. Filshill, to bring to market a newly created Data Manager position.

As J.W. Filshill prepares to move to its new premises in Renfrew, they are continuing to explore future revenue opportunities. J.W. Filshill has a wealth of data available to them, but more could be done to utilise it to shape business decisions. The role of Data Manager is a newly created position within the organisation, giving the successful applicant the opportunity to mould the future of the organisation and build strong relationships with senior stakeholders.

Working alongside the skills already within Filshill, this role will help develop a modern cloud-based data toolkit and platform to allow the company to meet its future data-related objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the Filshill data model is constantly updated to understand key data sources and data flows, and report opportunities across the business
• Lead a project to develop and implement an updated data architecture fit for delivery of the Filshill business data objectives going forward
• Develop existing inhouse data capability through working closely with the highly engaged inhouse cross departmental resource
• Review current systems and engage with and manage 3rd party partners to build the strategic 3rd party partnerships required to deliver relevant data capability
• Foster the creation of a data driven culture and help users build a level of data literacy across the business
• Identify areas where data is missing or used inefficiently, and recommend and implement improvements to reporting systems
• Liaise with all Filshill departments and business functions to establish and develop departmental reporting requirements, and build data visualisations and dashboards for the different areas within the company
• Drive consistency around data governance, terminology and usage throughout the company

We are looking for an independent, hardworking individual to take responsibility for developing the use of data within J.W. Filshill. You should be commercially minded with an eye for identifying growth opportunities.

Essential Skills:

• Educated to degree level in a relevant technical subject or have equivalent professional qualifications
• Experience of delivering data projects within a corporate environment
• Experience of working with cloud based data storage solutions
• Experience of working with Power BI or similar reporting/ analysis tools
• The ability to comfortably communicate effectively across all departments and levels of an organisation
• Full UK driving licence

Desirable Skills:

• Previous experience of implementing Azure or other cloud based data warehousing solutions
• Experience of managing direct reports
• A general understanding or experience of the use of AI/machine learning to supplement data use
