Check out Hamilton Forth’s annual salary review for technology compensation across Scotland in 2022.
This information has been captured via a variety of primary and secondary sources and covers a huge raft of job families typically found within the technology and change functions of Scottish businesses. From a general commentary perspective, we’ve seen a few trends which may be noticed in the survey:
- Salaries have, for the most part, steadily increased across technology skillsets – with some of the biggest climbs noticeable across software engineering, cyber and dev/ops skillsets
- An increase in interim / contract hiring in the Scottish tech ecosystem has continued despite the uncertain macroeconomic variables – including Brexit, Covid-19, changes to IR35 taxation and concerns over offshoring models
- Base salaries for junior hires have increased by some of the highest percentages, suggesting that businesses see value in investing in talent early, with a view of retaining tech workforces and creating a career plan for individuals rather than looking to hire experienced heads
